# Oscar or an accounting firm

What three Estonian accounting providers that publish their prices charge, beside the Oscar plan: one accounting office and two online accounting services. What each price includes, the automation, a worked example at each, where Oscar is the better fit, and where a firm is. A sample of three price lists, not the whole market.

## Where Oscar is a better fit

- You want one price for the usual month: the bookkeeping, unlimited sales invoices, up to 100 purchase invoices, the VAT return, payroll and the salary tax declaration (TSD) for up to 3 employees, and the annual report are all in 49 EUR a month.
- You have many bank lines: Oscar has no fee per bank transaction. For the company of the worked example, Oscar costs 49 EUR a month, against 149 EUR to 195.50 EUR at the three providers.
- You want your bank lines booked as they arrive: Oscar reads a connected bank account every day while the company is active, and our accountants check the books before the returns are filed.
- You want to work on your books from your own tools: Oscar has a remote MCP server for Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor, a public REST API with API keys, and Ask AI in the app. On 11.10.2026 the price lists of the three providers list none of these.
- Your company holds investments or real estate: shares in subsidiaries, funds, listed securities, crypto assets, rental income and investment property are booked in the 49 EUR plan. Unicount charges fixed asset entries by the hour, and the three price lists name no price for investments.
- You join in the middle of the year: the annual report stays in the Oscar price. At TuneUp it is included only after a full year on a plan, else quoted from your bank statements.

## Where an accounting firm is a better fit

- Your company is dormant and only needs its annual report. Firms sell that alone: 79 EUR at TuneUp, from 199 EUR at Unicount. Oscar has no annual-report-only plan; its yearly plan costs 499 EUR. [2] [3]
- Your case is unusual, or a past year needs work. A firm quotes special filings and one-time tasks: TuneUp quotes them, and DMraamatupidaja lists the restoration of past books by agreement and consultations from 50 EUR an hour. [2] [1]
- You want one provider for the company too: a firm can register the company and give the legal address and the contact person. Oscar does neither. [2] [3]
- You want to phone your accountant. DMraamatupidaja includes up to 1 hour of advice a month by email or phone in its base fee. [1]
- You sell through e-shops in several EU countries: TuneUp has e-commerce plans with OSS reporting for 5 countries. [2]

An accounting firm here means a provider that keeps the books of a small
company for a monthly fee. This page compares Oscar with the published price
lists of three of them: DMraamatupidaja, an accounting office
(raamatupidamisbüroo) in Tallinn, and TuneUp and Unicount, two online
accounting services. Prices differ from firm to firm, so this page does not
give one figure: it gives each price with its source. Many firms publish no
prices; yours may charge more or less. Oscar is an accounting service for
Estonian companies: the software books the bank lines and the receipts, and
our accountants in Tallinn check the books and file the returns.

The Oscar prices are those of the [pricing section of our
website](https://oscaraccountant.com/#pricing). The firm prices are those of their pages on
11.10.2026. Every firm figure in the table carries the number of its
source. Every source is listed with its date at the end of the page.

## What each price leaves out

- **The scope.** A firm's monthly fee can cover the bookkeeping only: at
DMraamatupidaja, the VAT return, the salary tax declaration (TSD), the
payroll and the bank entries are extra. Read what the fee includes before
  you compare.
- **The address.** Oscar's plan has no legal address and no contact person.
If you need them, add their cost to the Oscar price.
- **Extra fees.** Oscar's price list has three extra fees: 0.05 EUR for each
purchase invoice above 100 a month, 5 EUR a month for each employee above
3, and 5 EUR a month for each bank account above 4. Oscar does not offer
hourly work, consultations, OSS returns, company registration or an
  address.
- **VAT.** All the prices here are without VAT. VAT at 24% is added; a
company with a VAT number can usually deduct it.

## Less usual companies

- **Real estate.** Oscar books rental income and investment property, at
cost or at fair value, in the plan, and keeps real estate for your own use
in the fixed asset register with depreciation by Estonian rules.
DMraamatupidaja includes up to 5 fixed assets in its base fee, TuneUp
includes fixed assets in its plans, and Unicount charges fixed asset
  entries by the hour.
- **A holding company, shares, funds and crypto.** Oscar books shares in
subsidiaries, funds, listed securities and crypto assets, in the plan. On
11.10.2026 the three price lists name no price for investments or crypto:
  ask the firm.
- **Joining during the year.** The annual report stays in the Oscar price
when you join in the middle of the year. At TuneUp it is included only
after a full year on a plan, else quoted from your bank statements.

## Is Oscar a replacement for an accountant?

Oscar is an accounting service with accountants: they check the books, file
the returns and answer your questions. What it does not do is the work
around the books that some firms also sell: registering the company, the
legal address and the contact person, and work that is billed by the hour.

## A worked example

A company with a VAT number, 30 sales invoices and 30 purchase invoices a
month, and 1 employee, at each of the three providers. Prices without VAT.

**Assumptions.** Each invoice is paid by one bank transaction, and the
salary by one more: 61 bank transactions a month. Each invoice is one
document. At DMraamatupidaja, the 60 invoices fall in the band of 51 to 100
documents, each of the 61 bank transactions is one bank entry, and the
company files one VAT return and one salary tax declaration (TSD) a month.
Its annual report is priced "from 65 EUR", and for a regular client at the
average price of the year, so we take 65 EUR as the lowest figure. At
TuneUp, 60 documents are above the Lite limit of 15, so the month is billed
at Plus (40 documents), with 20 extra documents. At Unicount, the source
documents are the invoices and the transfers that are not invoice payments:
61 with the salary. We take Unicount Standard, the first plan with the
returns in the fee, and its minimum fee for the annual report.

| Item | Oscar | DMraamatupidaja | TuneUp Plus | Unicount Standard |
| ---------------------------- | ------: | --------------------: | -------------------------: | ----------------: |
| Monthly fee | 49 | 110.00 (60 documents) | 119.00 | 149.00 |
| Volume | - | 61 x 0.70 = 42.70 | 20 x 1.50 = 30.00 | 31 x 1.50 = 46.50 |
| VAT return | - | 7.00 | - | - |
| Salary tax declaration (TSD) | - | 7.00 | - | - |
| 1 employee: payroll | - | 7.00 | - | - |
| **A month, EUR** | **49** | **173.70** | **149.00** | **195.50** |
| Annual report | - | from 65.00 | included after a full year | 149.00 |
| **A year, EUR** | **588** | **from 2,149.40** | **1,788** | **2,495** |

A dash means the item is in the monthly fee. At Oscar the company pays
49 EUR a month, 588 EUR a year (499 EUR on the yearly plan): 100 EUR to
146.50 EUR a month less than at the three providers. DMraamatupidaja says
its price list is a framework and that it agrees the price with each
company, and its annual report can cost more than 65 EUR, so its yearly
figure is the lowest the list allows. A tax payment or another transfer
adds 0.70 EUR at DMraamatupidaja and 1.50 EUR at Unicount. The result
depends on the firm and on the volume. The TuneUp yearly figure assumes a
full year on the plan: for a company that joins during the year, TuneUp
quotes the annual report from the bank statements, so its yearly cost is
1,788 EUR plus that quote. At Oscar the annual report stays in the plan.

## How did we check these figures?

We read the public price lists of three accounting providers on 11.10.2026:
one accounting office whose list is fully itemised, and two online services
that publish a fixed starting price. Many firms publish no prices, so this
is a sample, not the whole market. Prices change: check the price list of
each firm before you decide. If a figure here is out of date, tell us and we
will correct the page.

## Conclusion

Oscar puts the usual month in one price: 49 EUR a month on the monthly
plan, with unlimited sales invoices, up to 100 purchase invoices, payroll
and the salary tax declaration (TSD) for up to 3 employees, the VAT return
and the annual report. Oscar reads a connected bank account every day while
the company is active, and has no fee per bank transaction. You can work on
your books from your own tools: through the MCP server in Claude, ChatGPT or
Cursor, through the REST API, or with Ask AI in the app. On 11.10.2026 the
price lists of the three providers list none of these. Investments, a
subsidiary and real estate are in the Oscar plan, and the annual report
stays in the price when you join in the middle of the year.

In the worked example, the company pays 49 EUR a month at Oscar, against
149 EUR at TuneUp, 173.70 EUR at DMraamatupidaja and 195.50 EUR at
Unicount.

An accounting firm is the better choice for a dormant company that needs
only its annual report, for unusual or past work billed by the hour, for a
founder who wants to phone the accountant, or for a founder who wants the
company, the address and the accountant from one provider.
